13 Jun 2005
One of the flagship projects of Kirkintilloch’s Initiative is one step closer to fruition as the detailed planning application for the arts and culture centre was approved by East Dunbartonshire Council’s Planning Department this week.Colin Smith, Project Manager of KI said:
“We are really pleased with the progress that has been made on the arts and culture centre and we are now looking forward to putting the plans into action. We secured funding from the Scottish Arts Council to help meet the costs of business planning earlier this year and we will find out in the autumn if we will receive additional funding to help us start the building work.”
“We want to thank everybody who has helped us develop the plans. Kirkintilloch is well on track to getting a first class arts facility that will serve as an important community and cultural base”
The detailed plans for the arts and culture centre, which will offer a range of theatrical, musical, dance and other performance events, can be seen at the William Patrick Library until the end of July. They are also available on line at www.k-eye.co.uk.
