Traffic Diversions at New Lairdsland Road Roundabout start today

8 Sep 2008

As part of the road works to deliver the new Kirkintilloch Link Road, there will be road diversions around the Waterside Road / Parliament Road / Townhead area.

This essential work will allow utilities to be moved before the Industry Street bridge is demolished.

Scottish Gas Networks will start work today [Monday 8 September 2008] to divert the gas pipelines in the area. The work is expected to take between eight and ten weeks and will mean some temporary changes to the traffic arrangements in the area.

For part of the contract period the approaches to the roundabout at Waterside Road / New Lairdsland Road / Parliament Road will be narrowed to allow contractors to work in safety and may cause some traffic tailbacks.

Scottish Gas has been instructed to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum.

Duncan Hamilton, Project Director for KI said:
“We apologise for any disruption that these essential road works may cause but we’re asking people to bear with us It’s all part of the programme to deliver the link road that will relieve congestion in the town centre and help improve our link to the motorway network.”
