Residents Turn to Drive Communication
15 Jul 2008
Residents in Kirkintilloch and Lenzie are being asked how they would like to be kept informed about the progress of the construction of the Kirkintilloch Link Road.Kirkintilloch’s Initiative (KI), acting on behalf of East Dunbartonshire Council, are inviting residents that live near to the construction of the road, and other interested members of the community, to complete a brief survey on the communications methods they would prefer to be contacted by.
As Carillion Construction begin the physical building work for the road it will be important to keep the community regularly informed about the construction schedule. KI want to make sure residents select the most appropriate method for them – mail, email, face-to-face meetings – and also have an opportunity to ask questions of the design and construction team.
The information KI obtain from the survey will also help to decide if regular Resident’s Information Forums, rolled out in different areas of Kirkintilloch and Lenzie, should be established.
Duncan Hamilton, Project Director for KI said:
“The questionnaire is very simple and quick to fill out so we’re encouraging all residents to return the forms. Building work will be going on for the next 18 months so we want to make sure people are telling us the best way to get in touch with them. And, it’s not just limited to people living close to the road, anybody with an interest in this project can respond.”
KI has written directly to over 600 residents living close to the road with the questionnaire. The survey can also be accessed on the website: www.k-i.org.uk or by calling the KI Project Office on 0141 578 8272.
