Preparation works on the Kirkintilloch Link Road

9 May 2008

Preparation work for the Kirkintilloch Link Road continues with more public utility diversions.

Scottish Water has contracted Alfred McAlpine to go on site in the Lindsaybeg Road area from Monday 12 May 2008 to divert water pipes.

Following agreement between Scottish Water and East Dunbartonshire Council’s Roads Service traffic management arrangements will be put in place for up to two weeks. A three-way traffic light system will be located at the junction of Lindsaybeg Road and Blacklands Place and will affect the only access to the Claddens Estate.

The agreement with the Council requires Scottish Water to do everything in its power to minimise the delays associated with the work.

Duncan Hamilton, Project Director for Kirkintilloch’s Initiative (KI), the commissioners of the Kirkintilloch Link Road, apologised for any disruption the works may cause. He said:

“These traffic management arrangements are essential to allow the preparation work on the link road to be carried out safely. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are assured that Scottish Water will do all they can to minimise delays.”

Anybody wanting further information or to discuss any issues should contact the KI Project Office on 0141 578 8272.
