Preparation Work for the Kirkintilloch Link Road

19 Oct 2007

Preparatory work to allow the construction of the Kirkintilloch Link Road officially got underway this week as public utility companies make arrangements to divert their services.

Scottish Power went on site at Industry Street and in the Lindsaybeg Road area to divert electricity cables from under the existing road to new routes. The Industry Street services are being diverted along Waterside Road and Parliament Road. Telecommunications and gas services will also be redirected or protected shortly.

Duncan Hamilton, Project Director for KI, explains:
“It’s important that we divert all public utility services that are under the line of the link road to avoid any disruption or damage to them. This is being carried out now so that construction work on the road can begin on time, which is expected to be early 2008.”

“For safety reasons traffic control measures are being put in place. We’re making every effort to minimise disruption to traffic flow and to finish these works as quickly as possible”

The public utility works are expected to be complete by the end of October 2007.
