Integrated Care and Advice Centre Moves a Step Closer
2 Jun 2005
Patients of Doctors Buchanan, Melrose and Murphy can now enjoy improved health care facilities as Kirkinitilloch’s Initiative has helped to temporarily relocate the practice, previously located in Union Street, to modern premises owned by the Council in Rochdale Place. The practice worked with KI to find new premises as older and disabled people found it difficult to access their previous building.
Pleased to be in their new premises, Dr Murphy commented:
“This new building has really helped to improve the way that we work and the service that we can provide to our patients. We are grateful to Kirkintilloch’s Initiative for helping us find a solution so quickly.”
Colin Smith, Project Manager of KI said:
“Helping to improve the town’s services and facilities is top of KI’s agenda. While we are working to bring health and social care services together in one place we want to make sure that, in the interim period until the new integrated centre is available, we do everything possible to improve local services.
He added: “The temporary relocation of this GP practice will significantly improve access until the practice moves to its permanent home in the new modern purpose-built health and social care centre.”
The new centre, which is scheduled for completion in Spring 2007, promises to be a busy hub of the regenerated town centre and will offer:
• Primary and Community Health Care Services (such as district nursing, health visiting, podiatry, physiotherapy, community dentistry, GP, family planning and speech & language therapy)
• Mental Health and Addiction Services
• Social Care Services
Doctors Buchanan, Melrose and Murphy can now be found at 10 Rochdale Place, Kirkintilloch. All patients can continue to contact the practice on the same telephone number 0141 776 2468.
