Brand New Health and Social Care Centre for Kirkintilloch

A one stop shop for health and social care services, at the former Woodhead House at Industry Street, is set to transform medical services for the people of Kirkintilloch.

Kirkintilloch’s Initiative (KI), a partnership between East Dunbartonshire Council and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, plan to replace the existing Townhead clinic with a new improved centre, combining local health and social care services under one roof. It is just one of many projects KI intend to deliver as part of a £56million regeneration programme for the town.

Eric Mackay, Community Representative for the Integrated Health and Social Care Centre commented:

“The new centre will really help to deliver improved health services for the community that are easily accessible in the one place. Since the closure of Woodilee hospital, the Larkfield Centre has done sterling work for Mental Health in this community. That it is now to be linked with other Community Health providers and Social Work in one Centre should enhance the high standard of care it already provides”.

Karen Murray, Director of the new East Dunbartonshire Community Health Partnership which is responsible for delivering local health services in health centres, clinics and schools across East Dunbartonshire, said:

“The new integrated centre is an excellent example of joint working between the local council and the NHS which will lead to closer working and better sharing of information between local health and social work staff. This will make it easier and quicker for local people to access the services and support they require.

The new centre promises to be a busy hub of the regenerated town centre and will offer:
• Primary and Community Health Care Services (such as district nursing, health visiting, podiatry, physiotherapy, community dentistry, GP, family planning and speech & language therapy)
• Mental Health and Addiction Services
• Social Care Services
