Kirkintilloch Link Road

Posted on 10 Aug 2008

Monday 14 July to Friday 18 July - I have attended a number of meetings this week with the aim of finalising the details of the Link Road works. A new road which is 4 kilometres long with a number of side road diversions has a very large number of neighbours, who want to be sure that the KLR works will not have any adverse impact on them, or at least be assured that actions are being taken to minimise them.

KI has instructed surveyors to carry out around 130 pre-contract property surveys, which are almost complete. Discussions with neighbouring landowners and farmers continue with a view to agreeing the type and specification of accommodation works. Every effort is being made to keep the hundreds of people who live close to the works informed about what is going on. This week a Residents Information Pack went out to about 100 households who have previously registered for information and updates. The pack contained plans, contact details and a preliminary programme for the works and will be updated as the KLR works progress.

Liaison is also taking place with representatives of the Scottish Government regarding the interface between the local road network and the trunk road network.
