Kirkintilloch Town Hall

Posted on 15 Jul 2008

Monday 2 June to Friday 4 July - This diary entry covers a period of 5 weeks, one of which has been a holiday week for me. The diary has fallen behind a little due to the frenzy of activity associated with the Kirkintilloch Link Road contract and getting the Integrated Care Centre construction work up and running.

The Town Hall Preservation Trust has now submitted a planning application for its proposals for refurbishment and enhancement of the Town Hall. The plans can be inspected at the Council’s Planning Service offices at the Triangle in Bishopbriggs. KI meets regularly with representatives of the Trust and is monitoring progress with funding bids. Whilst being supportive of the work being done by the Trust, KI has to take an independent view of how likely they are to be successful in bringing in the necessary funds in a reasonable period of time. I think everyone in the town wants to keep to an absolute minimum the length of time that the building sits in the town centre in its current condition.
