Kirkintilloch Link Road

Posted on 30 May 2008

Monday 12 May to Friday 16 May - This week I have spent quite a bit of time dealing with local landowners whose businesses and homes are affected by the road proposals. Our aim here is to ensure that the construction of the road has as little impact as possible and that inconvenience during construction is minimised. This is a resource intensive activity. It is only when you actually begin to carry out the proposed works that everyone realises the full implications. It is often the case that the works expose conditions which were not expected e.g. private services. It is also normal for people affected by the works to only fully realise their implications once they are actually being constructed even although they have been aware of the proposals for some time. KI is doing all it can to respond positively to requests for information and amendments to the design which assist. There are however some requests where we cannot respond positively because of planning or budgetary constraints. In these cases we will explain the reasons why we cannot change things.
