Southbank

Monday 21 April to Friday 25 April - Planning for the future in the Southbank area runs in parallel with the construction work on the marina, the footbridge and the offices. I met this week with a colleague from the Council’s Transport Team to discuss a masterplanning approach to accommodating any further development in the Southbank area. A strategy for coping with increased demand for vehicular access, parking, walking, cycling and public transport access is being developed. The proposed Southbank Access Road forms part of this access strategy. I met this week with residents of the Eastergreens area who are potentially adversely affected by the proposed road. This was one of a series of meetings aimed at keeping residents updated with accurate information and giving them an opportunity to influence the design of the proposals. This meeting dealt mainly with a presentation on the landscape proposals and an update on programme. There have been some difficulties in getting all of the necessary consents in place which means that the start date for the works is uncertain. It is hoped however that these problems will be resolved relatively quickly. As soon as they are the Contractor is ready to go on site.Read next: Integrated Care Centre
