Kirkintilloch Link Road

Posted on 7 Mar 2008

The current activity on site dealing with the tree removal and the treatment of Japanese Knotweed is generating lots of phone calls to the KI Office. Sandra and I are happy to provide local residents with as much information as we can. We have always had plans to establish a series of Resident’s Forums once the construction contract is awarded. The reaction to the advanced works has made me think that these plans need to be brought forward to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to access information and contacts at the time that they need it. I have recently sent out a Resident Information Note which covers this issue. A copy of this note and associated covering letter can be found elsewhere on the web site. This outlines the intention to establish a series of Residents Forums. The model I am suggesting has been tested already with a group of local residents who had concerns about the Link Road and the Woodilee Development proposals at the planning stage. The initial meetings with these residents resulted in a series of commitments by KI and the Consortium of Housebuilders. The Residents Forum has been set to ensure delivery of these commitments and to provide the residents with progress reports and contact information. This seems to have worked well for these residents so I am looking to emulate this elsewhere along the line of the road.
