Kirkintilloch Link Road

Posted on 21 Dec 2007

I met this week with a number of members of the public who have a particular interest in the Link Road. One group of residents was interested to get more detailed information about the alignment of the road and some advice on how to approach the Council’s Planning Service about related issues. At KI we are always happy to provide whatever information we can and will meet interested parties at their convenience. Another group represented the interests of cyclists and wanted to know how the Link Road proposals will treat footways and cycleways where these cross the road. We had an interesting dialogue which helped me understand the needs and desires of this group. We also spoke about how KI, EDC and this group might be able to work together in the future on the Countryside Access Network proposals. The KI licence application to work adjacent to waterways will be advertised over the next couple of weeks in the Edinburgh Gazette and in the Kirkintilloch Herald. This is a statutory requirement which is part of the process of getting final consents from the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency.
