Arts & Cultural Centre

This week we had our regular progress review meeting with the Scottish Arts Council. We discussed work which has taken place over the last few months including:
• the appointment of the Project Architect
• preparation work for the establishment of the Trust which will run the new Centre
• applications to gain charitable status for the Trust
• the programme review process
• business plan updates, and
• the latest programme for delivery of the Centre.

Grant Williams, Arts & Cultural Centre Development Officer, is now fully briefed on the history of the project and is taking a lead role in working with the Design Team. He is also making sure that the Arts & Cultural Centre is closely tied in with the other KI projects and work being done by East Dunbartonshire Council on cultural development in the area.

I visited the site of the proposed centre at Southbank this week. It’s great to see the new marina and associated offices and commercial development emerging from the ground. There is a lot of construction activity taking place at Southbank just now. The projected completion date for the marina is May 2008.
