Kirkintilloch Link Road

Posted on 19 Oct 2007

Efforts continue to achieve sign off on various conditions associated with the Link Road planning consents. Other arrangements which need to be in place are also progressing towards a conclusion hopefully over the next couple of months. These include:

• The receipt and consideration of proposals for advanced works to facilitate the construction of the Link Road.
• Instructions being issued on the diversion and protection of Scottish Power cables. This work is currently being carried out and should be completed by the end of October. Road users in the area will have noticed the traffic management works at the New Lairdsland Road / Waterside Road Roundabout where cables are being diverted from Industry Street. Every effort is being made to keep traffic disruption to a minimum.
• Agreeing accommodation works and communication arrangements with the landowners who are adjacent to the proposed road. Clearly these people will be affected by both the construction work and the operation of the Link Road when complete. It is important therefore that we have a good working relationship with them based on providing them with good information.
