Arts & Cultural Centre

Posted on 12 Oct 2007

Grant Williams, the Arts & Cultural Centre Development Officer, has been in post for just over a month now. He has been getting familiar with the history of the project and starting his review of the programme, the business plan and the building proposals. He and I met this week to discuss his programme and workload and to prepare for our forthcoming meeting with the Scottish Arts Council. Good progress is being made on a number of fronts. The arrangements for establishing a charitable trust to run the facility are well advanced. This is important because Grant has a fundraising strategy which he can only meaningfully start once the charitable trust is established. He has also been meeting with the various consultants who will assist is bringing forward the detailed information and plans required for the centre to be successful on opening. Apart from the obvious need for an architectural design team, Grant has had discussions with people who are experienced at running arts centres and who have run catering facilities in arts centres. I have also put Grant in touch with the Kirkintilloch Town Hall Preservation Trust so that they can discuss business plan compatibility.
