Kirkintilloch Town Hall

I met with the Town Hall Preservation Trust this week. They are naturally delighted about their successful application to the BIG Lottery Fund. They have been awarded £145,000 to assist with the development of their project. This money allows them to employ professional advisors who can bring the design, the business plan and the community consultation up to the standard and level of detail required by any potential funder of the construction works. On behalf of KI, I have two main interests in the Town Hall proposals. I am charged by the KI Board with ensuring that reasonable progress is made towards bringing the Town Hall site back into a use which contributes to the vitality of the Town Centre. I also have to make sure that the proposals for the refurbished Town Hall are compatible with the new Arts & Cultural Centre at Southbank and not in competition in any way. My regular meetings with the Town Hall Preservation Trust are mainly about dealing with these two
