Kirkintilloch Link Road
Posted on 8 Oct 2007
This diary entry covers 4 weeks, one of which was a holiday week for me.Extensive discussions are taking place aimed at trying to get into a position to let the contract for the Link Road. These discussions take place in a number of different groupings involving the many people who have an influence on the decision to let the contract. Formal agreements need to be signed off in respect of planning issues, statutory consents, financial arrangements, design issues, mitigation measures and land issues. Only when all of these formal agreements are completed will KI be in position to let the contract. All of them are at an advanced stage but, as ever with complicated projects, it takes a lot of effort to push them over the line. We are conscious of the fact that some of the Link Road work can only be done at certain times of the year and that we must be sure to complete these works at the right time. For this reason KI is in discussion with the Preferred Contractor about an advance contract for enabling works which could start in November of this year. It is likely that this contract will include fencing, tree removal works and the treatment of Japanese Knotweed. As soon as a final decision is made on this matter full publicity will be issued so that local people know what is going on.
