Town Centre

I met this week with a number of Council officers who are responsible for the Council’s involvement with Kirkintilloch Town Centre. Their responsibilities include planning, property management, economic development and transport. We discussed ideas for the future of Kirkintilloch Town Centre and how these ideas might be achieved. The Council has recently published its strategy for the town centres in the East Dunbartonshire area. This identifies Kirkintilloch as a priority for action. Our views on the future of the town centre were exchanged and a programme for developing these ideas was agreed. I am keen that everyone with an interest in the future vitality of Kirkintilloch Town Centre works together towards common aims. I am aware that there are a number of interest groups in Kirkintilloch Town Centre who are not necessarily speaking to each other. KI wants the Council to take up a leadership role and encourage all of the representative groups to work together on an agreed programme.
