Kirkintilloch Link Road

The Kirkintilloch Link Road Management Board met this week. The administrative arrangements for procurement of the Link Road are currently changing as we move from the planning and design phase to the construction phase. The Management Board discussed and approved a new set of management procedures. These set out clearly the structure of the administration associated with the project, the roles and responsibilities of every function within the structure and procedures for the financial control of the project. The Board also discussed progress on the issues which need to be resolved before the contract for the construction phase can be let. There are a number of issues relating to statutory consents which are the subject of much discussion between our consultants and the statutory authorities. I remain hopeful that these are close to resolution. We have also spent quite a bit of time recently speaking with people who live close to the proposed road and working with them to ensure that the final design incorporates all of the measures they expect to protect them from the impacts of the road.
