Communications Topic Group / Project Office
Posted on 25 May 2007
The KI Communications Topic Group met this week. Most of the discussions / decisions related to the Leisure Centre, the Project Office and to the Herald Canal Supplement (27 May).
The Leisure Centre is due to open to the public shortly and the Council are taking forward plans for the opening. The Topic Group are keen to make sure KI’s role in the delivery of the Leisure Centre is properly recognised and KI are appropriately involved in the opening.
KI has carried out a lot of work on publicising the leisure centre with schools and competitions are appearing in the Kirkintilloch Herald in the run up to the opening.
Good progress has been made with the fit out of the KI Project Office at the Parochial Halls in Union Street. We hope to be able to move in during June. The Communications Topic Group is assisting with the design of the public display area. The aim is to have an informative permanent display and an area for news all of which will be designed to the same standards and appearance as the web site which is currently being revamped.
The Herald is running a Canal Supplement in their Friday and Sunday editions this week. The Topic Group agreed that it is important that Kirkintilloch and the work of KI aimed at revitalising the Town Centre feature in this kind of publicity. Quite a lot of work has therefore gone into providing the Herald with information about what is going on in the Kirkintilloch area and how this relates to the development of the Forth & Clyde Canal.
