Kirkintilloch Link Road

We had to deal with a bit of a set back this week in respect of the planning consents for the Link Road. The final step in the approval process is the referral to Scottish Ministers who will normally take a couple of weeks to come back with their view on the application. In the case of the section of the Link Road in the East Dunbartonshire area the civil servants have indicated that they are not prepared to accept conditions on the consent which refer to the impact of the scheme on European protected species. Our submissions have shown how we propose to carry out further surveys of bat activity to guide our approach to construction and undertake to repeat previous surveys of greater crested newt activity in the line of the road.
