Kirkintilloch Link Road

This week has seen an intensive schedule of meetings aimed at agreeing, along with the statutory authorities, the work programme associated with the satisfaction of the pre-start planning conditions on the Link Road. To achieve this I have attended meetings with the Council’s Planning Service, the EDC Greenspace Team, the Roads Services and the Protective Services Team. These meetings have produced a clear and agreed programme of work for the consultants who are developing the Link Road proposals. This work includes providing updated information on the impact of the road on drainage and the flooding regime, as well as agreeing how the environmental and habitat mitigation measures are to be implemented. In addition, we have to look at updating information on land contamination and the processes for minimising the impacts of noise pollution. The meeting also discussed ways of providing a whole range of information about how the contractor will approach the work. Although the information which needs to be supplied to the Council’s Planning Service is fairly extensive and quite detailed, it is anticipated that the pre-start conditions will be resolved within a relatively short period of time due to the advanced stage of the design work.
