Leisure Centre

This week all of the legal, planning and funding issues associated with the Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre were brought to the point where the contract for the construction phase can be signed. Final paperwork is being assembled and the detailed arrangements for the start of works are being made. Formally, the start of works will be marked at a “sod-cutting” ceremony on Monday 16 January. Future users will be represented by children from Kirkintilloch High School and by members of the Kirkintilloch & Kilsyth Swimming Club. Also in attendance will be the Community Representatives for the project (Arun Save and Carmen McDonald), the Project Champion (John Mundell), members of the Kirkintilloch’s Initiative Board (Councillors Morrison, Geekie and Jarvis) and representatives of Barr Construction.
