Gallowhill Road Junction Improvement

Work started on Monday on the public utility diversions required for the junction improvement at Lenzie Road / Kirkintilloch Road / Gallowhill Road. Scottish Power is currently moving it’s cables into what will become the verge of the new road. British Telecom will start on a similar exercise on 18 January. The detailed design of the junction improvement is close to being agreed with EDC Roads Services. The initial work is necessary to allow the widening of the junction. During this initial phase, only work which doesn’t disrupt the flow of traffic is being carried out. All of the junction improvements will be completed before the new Leisure Centre opens for business. The junction improvement work is being organised by East Dunbartonshire Development Company Ltd (formerly Strathkelvin Development Company) and the costs are being split three ways between KI, the EDC and the Development Company.
