formal meetings

Posted on 27 Oct 2006

It has been a busy week for formal meetings. On Wednesday I reported progress on Kirkintilloch’s Initiative to the East Dunbartonshire Community Planning Board. This is a forum where all of the public sector agencies in the East Dunbartonshire area come together at senior management level to try to ensure that organisations such as the Council, the Health Board, the Police, the Fire Brigade, the Enterprise Companies and the Voluntary Sector are working in partnership to the benefit of the community. Kirkintilloch’s Initiative is a good example of community planning in action. The strong partnership between the Council and the Health Board is delivering benefits to the community, which neither of these organisations could have achieved on their own. The Community Planning Board provides an opportunity to discuss whether other public sector organisations such as British Waterways and Scottish Enterprise Dunbartonshire could become more involved in KI.

The Annual General Meeting of Kirkintilloch’s Initiative Ltd was held on Thursday. This is the only legally required meeting of the company each year. The agenda dealt with the approval of the annual accounts and the appointment of Directors. Following this there was a meeting of the KI Executive Group at which a number of important decisions were made regarding funding and legal commitment to the contracts for the Kirkintilloch Link Road, the Southbank proposals and the Integrated Health & Social Care Centre. KI is now in a position to commit legally to these projects and awaits the completion of the design and tendering processes, final planning approval and the approval of our partners.
